30 Day Prayer Guide | Day 30

MORNING PRAYER

SILENCE [2 min]
Silence, stillness, and centering before the God of our salvation.

THE PSALM
Praise the LORD, all nations! Extol him, all peoples!
For great is his steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the LORD!
(Psalms 117)

CONFESSION & ASSURANCE
For the things I did that I shouldn’t have done. For the things I didn’t do that I should've done.

Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. (Psalms 32:1)

NEW TESTAMENT READING
The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
(John 1:43–46)

MEDITATIVE PRAYER
O God,
Who wilt consume at the last day the heavens and the earth with all the creatures they contain, to show all mankind that nothing subsists save Thee.

O God,
Who wilt destroy all these vain idols and all these fatal objects of our passions! I praise Thee, my God, and I will bless Thee all the days of my life.

Blaise Pascal, 17th century

EVENING PRAYER

SILENCE [2 min]
Silence, stillness, and centering before the God of our salvation.

JESUS | HE LOVES US
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
(Ephesians 3:14-19)

EVENING HYMN

The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star, and reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care, God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled, and pardoned from his sin.
[Refrain]
Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong! It shall forevermore endure
The saints' and angels' song.
When hoary time shall pass away, and earthly thrones and kingdoms fall; When men who here refuse to pray, on rocks and hills and mountains call; God's love, so sure, shall still endure, all measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam's race, the saints' and angels' song.
[Refrain]
Could we with ink the ocean fill, and were the skies of parchment made;
Were ev'ry stalk on earth a quill, and ev'ry man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole, tho’ stretched from sky to sky.
[Refrain]

Frederick M. Lehman, 1917

MEDITATIVE PRAYER
You are beautiful. You are good. You are true. (Canyon Road: A Book of Prayer)

THE BENEDICTION
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
(Ephesians 3:20-21)

SILENCE [2 min]
Silence and stillness, as God has the last word to finish the day. He labors while you sleep.
