A LAMENT POEM: VINDICATION

this world presses
in a little too hard—
wanting to devour.

loved ones’ breaking hearts
are breaking my heart.
where are you?

how long will you be silent?
will you ever restore
what has been broken?

when will you come home to us?

oh my God, when will you
vindicate me? vindicate us?

vindicate yourself.

not by the standard,
of what i deserve

but by what you
declare is good—

because you are good,
and you love your children.

even when we fail you.
