30 Day Prayer Guide | Day 02
MORNING PRAYER
SILENCE [2 min]
Silence, stillness, and centering before the God of our salvation.
THE PSALM
For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. [Selah] Those of low estate are but a breath; those of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath. Put no trust in extortion; set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them. Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this; that power belongs to God, and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love.
(Psalms 62:5–11)
MORNING HYMN
Thou lovely Source of true delight, whom I unseen adore!
Unveil Thy beauties to my sight, that I may love Thee more.
Thy glory o’er creation shines; but in Thy sacred Word,
I read in fairer, brighter lines, my bleeding, dying Lord.
’Tis here, whene’er my comforts droop, and sins and sorrows rise,
Thy love, with cheerful beams of hope, my fainting heart supplies.
Jesus! my Lord, my Life, my Light — oh, come with blissful ray;
Break radiant through the shades of night, and chase my fears away.
Then shall my soul with rapture trace the wonders of Thy love;
But the full glories of Thy face are only known above.

TRADITIONAL PRAYER
Almighty God, you know that we have no power in ourselves to help ourselves: Keep us both outwardly in our bodies and inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (BCP)
MEDITATIVE PRAYER
Father, make your Son more beautiful and more believable than anything else I could adore today.
EVENING PRAYER
SILENCE [2 min]
Silence, stillness, and centering before the God of our salvation.
THE PSALM
God shall arise, his enemies shall be scattered; and those who hate him shall flee before him! As smoke is driven away, so you shall drive them away; as wax melts before fire, so the wicked shall perish before God! But the righteous shall be glad; they shall exult before God; they shall be jubilant with joy! Sing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts; his name is the LORD; exult before him! Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation. God settles the solitary in a home; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.
(Psalms 68:1-6)
NEW TESTAMENT READING
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened….Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
(Romans 1:16–22, 24-25)
SPACE FOR REFLECTION

INTERCESSORY PRAYER

THE BENEDICTION
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
(James 4:10)
SILENCE [2 min]
Silence and stillness, as God has the last word to finish the day. He labors while you sleep.
