Good morning Salties,
Sorry this is later than usual; I’ve been in meetings this morning since 7:00 AM with a couple more to go.
Let’s get back to Genesis 5. One of the interesting points in this genealogy is the length of time these descendants of Adam lived. Certainly, much longer than today and even right after the flood. Keep in mind though that the one who lived on earth the shortest time was Enoch, the man who walked with God who was taken up directly by God. I think what that teaches us is that holy life doesn’t necessarily equal a long life. We know from Psalm 139 that God has numbered our days so we can be at peace, not reckless but confident that God has our life in His perfect control
Walking with God also means agreeing with God. Amos 3:3 says “Do two walk together, unless they have agreed to meet?” Walking together means agreeing with both the destination and the route. It means seeing things as He sees them in other words, having a Biblical worldview. A Biblical worldview is an overarching approach to understanding the world around us that has God at the center. It is of course based on the infallible Word of God, it’s believing that absolute moral truths exist and those are found in the Bible. It means our primary reason for existence is to love and serve God. We can love and serve Him even in this time of isolation and uncertainty because we believe He’s in control and we trust what He says. Let’s all take to heart Paul’s admonition to the Colossians in 2:8.
Love in Christ, Neil
