Good morning Salites,

I hope you had a good Sunday and were blessed by the worship and teaching from Redemption Gilbert. Kate and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This will be my last devotion on the names of God for a while. We’ll end it with the very first name He identifies Himself to Moses; Yahweh (Jehovah) in Exodus 3 “I AM Who I AM…” The proper name of God.  Remember, the English language does not do God’s name justice.   The “I AM” (Yahweh, Jehovah) has the connotation of “I AM________________ (and fill in the blank with every attribute that is true of God.)

Here is a sample listing, take your time looking up these marvelous verses:

  • Spirit (John 4:24)
  • Light (Is. 60:19)
  • Merciful (Ex. 34:6,7)
  • Love (1 John 4:8,16)
  • Invisible (Job 23:8,9)
  • Jealous (Josh. 24:19)
  • Unsearchable (Job 11:7)
  • Incorruptible (Rom. 1:23)
  • A consuming fire (Heb. 12:29)
  • Eternal (Duet. 33:27)
  • Immortal (1 Tim. 1:17; 6:16)
  • After none (Is. 43:10)
  • Omnipotent (Gen. 17:1)
  • Omniscient (Ps. 139:1-6)
  • The only good one (Matt. 19:17)
  • Omnipresent (Ps. 139:7)
  • Immutable (Ps. 102:26,27)
  • Faithful (1 Cor. 10:13)
  • Only-wise (Rom. 6:27)
  • Glorious (Ex. 15:11)
  • Long-suffering (Micah 7:1)
  • Most High (Ps. 83:18)
  • Perfect (Matt. 5:48)
  • Compassionate (2 Kings 13:23)
  • Holy (Is. 5:16)

  • Good (Ps. 25:8)
  • Filler of heaven and earth (1 Kings 8:27)
  • Great (Ps. 86:10)
  • Gracious (Ex. 34:6)

Jesus made Himself equal with the Father.  all these verses describe Him as well as the Father, the Word made flesh. How amazing that a God like that loves us as His children. Let’s be thankful!

Love in Him, Neil
