All Of Life Is All For Jesus

We want to share our Elders with you!

We’re happy to introduce the people who tirelessly pray for and serve in our church, and lead our mission of making All Of Life All For Jesus.

Thank you, Chuck Bishop, for all you do for our church!

How long have you been at Redemption Gilbert, and what made you call this home?

We came to what was then East Valley Bible Fellowship in late 1992 and when God saved me in 1993 it was natural to make this church our home.

Tell us a bit about your family.

Kathi and I have three married adult children. Tanner, Becca and Paul who have blessed us with five grand children to date and three son and daughter in law’s.

How do you serve at Redemption Gilbert, and what do you love the most about it?

Kathi and I have had the pleasure of acting as a home group shepherd for a couple of decades. Kathi has also been involved in counseling and women’s ministry, and I have taught some adult education classes. I have served as a lay elder for the last 10 years.

What is your favorite passage of Scripture and why?

Tough question. I’m going to go with Phil 1:6 “And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Christ Jesus.”

I love the security of knowing that I am incapable of messing up the greatest gift I have. He began the work (not me) and He will finish the work (not me). Nothing can thwart the plans of God in my life. Theologically, it’s the promise of eternal security.

Where did you grow up?

All over the world. I was born on an air force base in Japan and lived in Delaware, Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Morocco, Florida, and New York before our family settled in Arizona in 1966. We have lived in the East Valley ever since – I attended Westwood High School in Mesa, Mesa Community College and ASU.

What is one of your favorite childhood memories?

Digging a tunnel to our next door neighbor’s house when we received 6’ of snow while living in upstate New York during the blizzard of 1966.

What was your first job?

Picking watermelon in Sacaton, Arizona

What’s your favorite sports team to root for?

I don’t have just one, having lived in the valley so long – they’re local. ASU, Cardinals and the Sun’s all bring me distress when they underperform.

What’s your favorite Hymn or Christian song and why?

I have so many that move me but “I Can Only Imagine” is right up there along with “His Favorite Song of All”.

What’s your favorite restaurant and why?

The Commons – because of the combination of good food and how it’s served with love.

If you could travel anywhere in the world (if money was not a concern) where would you go and why?

Either Antarctica or Tahiti – some place so unique in God’s creation and a great place to warm up after the trip to Antarctica.

What is your favorite hobby?

Probably fly fishing.
